2010 U.S. Olympians finalized

All 15 skaters nominated to represent the United States at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, have been announced by U.S. Figure Skating. Selections are pending approval from the U.S. Olympic Committee, which will announce the official roster of the 2010 U.S. Olympic team on Feb. 2.

Rachael Flatt, the 2010 U.S. Champion, and silver medalist Mirai Nagasu, the 2008 U.S. Champion, earned the last two nominations on the roster when they were named following the ladies free skate Saturday at the 2010 U.S. Championships in Spokane, Wash. Bronze medalist Ashley Wagner, fourth-place finisher Sasha Cohen, the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, and fifth-place finisher Christina Gao are the team alternates.

The ice dancing nominations were also announced Saturday following the afternoon free dance. Two-time U.S. Champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White (2009-10), silver medalists Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, the 2006 Olympic silver medalists, and bronze medalists Emily Samuelson and Evan Bates earned the nod. Pewter medalists Kim Navarro and Brent Bommentre are the first alternates.  Fifth-place finishers Madison Chock and Greg Zuerlein and sixth place finishers Madison Hubbell and Keiffer Hubbell are also alternates.

Two-time U.S. Champion Jeremy Abbott (2009-10), silver medalist Evan Lysacek and bronze medalist Johnny Weir were nominated for the men following their free skate Sunday. Lysacek is the 2007-08 national gold medalist while Weir held the title from 2004-06. The alternates for Vancouver are fourth-place finisher Ryan Bradley, fifth-place finisher Adam Rippon and sixth place finisher Brandon Mroz.

Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett were the first athletes nominated to the team when they won the pairs competition on Jan. 16. The other nomination in pairs is silver medalists Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig. Alternates are third place finishers Rena Inoue and John Baldwin, fifth-place finishers Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker and fourth-place finishers Brooke Castile and Brooke Okolski. All of the alternates in pairs have won at least one national title.
