Razzano to replace Lysacek at Skate America

Press release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — U.S. Figure Skating today selected Douglas Razzano to compete at 2011 Hilton HHonors Skate America, the opening event of the 2011 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Oct. 21-23 in Ontario, Calif.

Evan Lysacek, the 2010 Olympic champion, informed U.S. Figure Skating today he will not be competing in the 2011 ISU Grand Prix Series, which includes his assignments to Skate America and Trophee Eric Bompard.

“We respect Evan’s decision,” U.S. Figure Skating Executive Director David Raith said. “We will continue to support Evan as he works toward the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.”

Razzano will compete alongside Americans Richard Dornbush and Armin Mahbanoozadeh in the event at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Razzano began the season with a second-place showing at 2011 Finlandia Trophy earlier this month. He makes his Grand Prix Series debut in Ontario.

NBC will broadcast live coverage of Skate America from 3-6 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, Oct. 22. The entire event will be available live and on-demand on icenetwork.com to Season Pass subscribers.
